What is Blepharoplasty?<\/h3>\n

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that helps erase the signs of age and restore freshness to the gaze, never forgetting the importance of the overall balance of the face which is the main objective of the oculoplastic surgeon.
The\u00a0blepharoplasty\u00a0(or blepharochalasis) is the operation that allows you to eliminate the excess skin of the eyelids together with the fatty hernias that make up the eyelid bags.
The\u00a0blepharoplasty\u00a0can be performed alone or in combination with other facial rejuvenation procedures. In particular cases, this intervention can have a functional and not just aesthetic value.<\/p>\n

What are the indications for blepharoplasty surgery?<\/h4>\n

The\u00a0blepharoplasty\u00a0is recommended in case of:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • bags in the eyes, due to periorbital fat accumulation<\/li>\n
  • droopy eyes, drooping shape of the eyelids, giving a sad and tired look<\/li>\n
  • excess skin above the eyes covering the eyelid crease<\/li>\n
  • dark circles and periorbital skin depression<\/li>\n
  • crow’s feet and sagging skin<\/li>\n
  • eyelid swelling which often causes small and annoying problems, such as redness, tearing or narrowing of the visual field<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    \"\"How is blepharoplasty surgery performed?<\/h4>\n

    The\u00a0blepharoplasty\u00a0can be performed on the upper eyelid, lower eyelid or both (complete blepharoplasty). The incisions and resulting scars are located on the upper eyelid (at the level of the eyelid crease) and can sometimes protrude a few millimeters from the orbital arch. At the level of the lower eyelid, however, the scars are located a few millimeters from the lower ciliary margin.
    The surgeon separates the skin tissue from the adipose and muscle tissue, eliminating excess portions, as in the case of bags under the eyes. The sutures are placed in such a way as to minimize the scars, which in any case will match the natural folds of the upper eyelids and, for lower blepharoplasty, will be found just below the eyelid fissure.<\/p>\n

    Blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia, generally in combination with intravenous sedation, so as not to be completely alert during the operation.
    The operation lasts from 20 minutes to 2 hours depending on the complexity and whether it is upper, lower or complete blepharoplasty (supero-inferior blepharoplasty).<\/p>\n

    What are the behavioral rules for correct healing?<\/h4>\n
      \n
    • correct eye hygiene<\/li>\n
    • use of cold compresses or ice<\/li>\n
    • use of eye drops<\/li>\n
    • keep your head elevated and sleep with two pillows for at least a week<\/li>\n
    • do not strain your eyesight (television, reading, etc.)<\/li>\n
    • do not consume alcohol<\/li>\n
    • do not use contact lenses until completely healed<\/li>\n
    • preferably go out with dark glasses<\/li>\n
